Paranoid
Like with a lot of my others works I find myself inspired by the music I listen to, which happens to be a lot of works from the 60s and the 70s. For this particular piece I was feeling very inspired by The Grateful Dead, and Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid.”
I wanted to capture the hippie feeling that I get when listening to The Grateful Dead, mixing in their iconic skeleton iconography as well as a typography that gave off a groovy, psychedelic 60s feel. (For anyone curious, I referenced the font “Groovy Orange” for the type)
I chose the lyrics from “Paranoid” because it captures this feeling of completely losing your mind and crying out into a void for help. I wanted to create an image that represented internal chaos and I wanted to make a contrast between the mellow, relaxing colors of the Woodstock-Psychedelic-Hippie movement and the heavy, dark sound and lyrics of Black Sabbath.
