And it’s name was Freedom

This is a piece I originally designed for my series “Instropection”, but cut out to save for future projects.

The idea behind this piece comes from my love of the sea, and water in general. I was living in Texas at the time and I was terrible homesick. I missed being close to nature and I missed being able to walk to the river and to go for a swim, and I missed being able to sit in the quiet of it all and enjoy the presence of the water.

I wanted to create something that felt like a big, fantastical adventure that I could get lost in. A piece that I could look at and remember the river that I grew up on, because to me things like the ocean and rivers are a representation of freedom, and they’re the kind of places I find myself at when I’m looking for a break.
